Annuals, procumbent, ascending or erect to 30 cm tall. Leaves obovate-oblong, 1-3 cm long, 0,5-1,0 cm broad, scarcely revolute. Cincinni simple, or branched at base. Bracts exstipulate, ovate-lanceolate, 2-4 mm long. Flowers 5-17, secund on short, sturdy, spreading pedicels upturned at the tip, 1-2 x the calyx length. Inner sepals acute, nerves slightly prominent, usually greenish and lacking setae. Capsules glabrous, 3,5-6 mm. Fl. 3-6. Dry calcareous places in scrub and steppe, s.l-1100 m, often collected with H. ledifolium
