Perennial with a very stout woody caudex. Stems ± erect, 10-15 cm, densely puberulent. Basal leaves oblanceolate, c. 30 x 3-4 mm; cauline leaves ovate-cordate, c. 2 x longer than broad, 3-5-nerved; all puberulous. Flowers 3 or more in dichasia. Calyx 18-20 mm, a little inflated, not sharp1y constricted below the capsule, but strongly narrowed above in fruit. Petal white, auriculate, the limb divided to c. 1/2 of its length. Anthophore c. 7 mm, glabrous. Capsule ovoid, included in the calyx. Fl. 6. Screes, c. 1500 m.
Endemic; very similar to the Iranian S. commelinifolia Boiss. Ir.-Tur. element.
