Glabrous, rarely puberulent perennial with long, much-branched caudex. Stems numerous, 10-30 cm, fragile, flexuous, ascending, decumbent or pendulous. Basal leaves crowded in rosette, ovate or orbicular to reniform, with cordate base, crenate with 5-7 obtuse to acute lobes, or bidentate, long -petiolate; cauline similar, with shorter petiole; floral leaves minute, ± sessile, oblong-lanceolate, subentire, acuminate. Flowers in lax inflorescence, 1-3 on long filiform flexuous bracteolate pedicels. Ovary spherical, 1-2 mm. Calyx lobes subulate, ± patent, sometimes reflexed, 3-6 mm. Corolla obconical-campanulate, 10 mm, divided to 1/3-1/2 with 5-6 mm, lanceolate, acute, ± patent lobes, blue to violet-blue, glabrous. Style not exserted. Stigmas 3, short. Capsule globose, ribbed, 3-4 x 4-5 mm, opening by 3 large ± basal pores. Seeds ovoid, 0.8-1 x 0·4 mm, dark brown, shiny. 2n = 34. Fl. 5-8. Limestone and conglomerate rocks, cliffs, shady places, 1000-2700 m.
