Annual herb usually 8-12 cm, much branched. Basal leaves oblong or ovate, shortly petiolate. Cauline leaves oblong or ovate, amplexicaul, cordate, acute at apex. Petals 2.5-3 x 1 mm, pale pink. Filaments of long stamens loosely adnate, not toothed; anthers apiculate. Inflorescence elongating slightly in fruit, heterocarpic. Large fruits 7-8.5 x 6-8 mm on erect pedicels; septum 4-5 x 2 mm; wings c. 2 mm dentate-lacerate; sinus 2-3 mm, style c. 1 mm. Seeds 4-6, papillose,mucilaginous. Small fruits star-shaped, unilocular one seeded. Radicle obliquely incumbent or obliquely accumbent. Fl. 3-5. Fields, waste places and limestone slopes, c. 1000 m.
