Stout herb, 30-120 cm. Leaves large, ovate-lanceolate, acuminate, middle and upper sessile, often decurrent. Flowers numerous. Calyx 7-8 mm, divided to 1/2, lobes lanceolate. Corolla purplish, pinkish or white, 12-18 mm, lobes deflexed; scales broadly triangular-lanceolate, scarcely exceeding stamens; stamens with connective projecting beyond thecae, filaments as broad as anthers. Nutlets 5-6 mm, black, smooth, shining. Fl. 4.
