Bulb 0.77-1 cm diam., tunics fuscous. Leaves 2-3, linear, 5-6 cm x 4-5 mm. Scapes 1-3, 6-8 cm. Raceme 1-2-flowered; pedice1s usually curved, shorter than perianth segments. Bracts amplexicaul , bifid, deltoid, 1-2 mm, usually truncate, cordate and inflated at base. Perianth segments deep blue, often white at base, with dark midrib, 13-15 x 4-5 mm, spreading, conduplicate at base. Filaments 1-2 mm broad at base. Ovary subg1obose, 3-5 mm diam. Style relatively short and thick, 4-6 mm. Seeds ovoid, c. 3 x 2 mm, pale brown with white cylindrical caruncle. 2n = 12 . Fl. 4-5. Open grassy slopes, by melting snow, 1000-2500 m.
