Annual with erect or ascending-erect, branched stems up to 40 cm, sparsely setose-tuberculate or glabrous. Leaves 2-pinnate, the ultimate segments narrowly cuneate, acute. Rays 5-15. Bracts pinnatifid with setaceous segments, exceeding the flowers. Central flowers of the umbel sometimes sterile and reduced. Petals white, minute. Fruit 2-4 mm, spines on the secondary ridges scarcely broadened, and not confluent at the base. Fl. 5-7. Sea shores, slopes, fields, s.l.-800 m. 
S. Europe, Egypt, Libya, Latakia, Lebanon, Palestine, Syrian Desert.
