Bulb subglobose, to 1.5 cm diam.; outer tunics membranous, greyish. Stem 7-30 cm, terete. Leaves 2-3, linear, 2-10 mm broad, with long cilia at margin and sometimes also above and beneath. Spathe to 1,3 cm, 1-valved, persistent, shorter than pedicels. Umbel 2-7 cm diam., patent, lax. Pedicels to 4 cm, 3-5 x perianth. Perianth patent; segments white, elliptic or oblong, 7-9 mm, obtuse to acute. Stamens 1/2-2/3 x perianth. Anthers usually brown. Capsule 3 mm. 2n = 14. Fl. 4-5. Shady Fagus, Castanea and Cupressus sempervirens woods, macchie, phrygana, rocky places, s.l.-800 m.
