Bulb ovoid or globose, 1-1.5 cm diam.; outer tunics brownish-grey or brownish, membranous, splitting above. Stem 20-35 cm, straight or flex-uous below, often purplish at base or above. Leaves 1-3, 2-3 mm broad, hollow, flattened or canaliculate, smooth or scabridulous at margin; lowest leaf often circinnate; sheaths ± ribbed. Spathe 1-valved with short beak, soon caducous. Umbel globose, 1-2.5 cm diam., many-flowered, dense. Pedicels unequal, as long as or to 3 x perianth, bracteolate. Perianth campanulate or ovoid-camp anulate; segments with green or purple midvein, 2.5-4 mm, oblong or ovate-lanceolate, obtuse, purple and verrucose-scabrid in upper part, mainly along keel and margins. Filaments white or purplish, 1.5 x perianth; outer ones simple, subulate, inner tricuspidate; median cusp of inner filaments shorter than lateral cusps. Anthers purple. Ovary smooth or papillose. Capsule ovoid, 2-3 mm.
